Weaving Stories into Every Stitch
In 2020, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic led me to face unemployment. During the quarantine, I often watched my grandmother knit sweaters and shoes, which sparked my interest in crocheting. I began mimicking her and tried to create various patterns. Over time, I gradually mastered the art of making scarves, blankets, dolls, and other handcrafted items, and shared my works online. These pieces attracted many people’s attention, especially crochet enthusiasts who shared techniques, discussed color codes, and some friends even asked me to create personalized gifts. A few online followers even specifically requested custom-made dolls from me.
With the support and encouragement of others, crochet became my passion. As I gained more experience, I gradually expanded from online to offline, attending various crochet community events, meeting like-minded friends, and learning more about crochet.
In the spring of 2023, my friends and I decided to organize our own crochet activities, which received high praise. As the activities grew, we decided to establish our own crochet studio in the summer of 2023. In this warm space, we can freely exchange and share creative ideas. At the same time, we began selling original works and custom-made dolls to sustain the studio’s operations and support the daily lives of our members. During this process, we regularly held public crochet lessons, attracting more enthusiasts to join our team.
Today, our crochet community includes over 200 creators, more than half of whom are stay-at-home moms who generate extra income for their families through crochet. Additionally, we have members from various professions, including doctors, teachers, students, and civil servants, who bring their life inspirations into the world of crochet. Every member of our studio plays an essential role, just like every stitch in a crochet project. Without any part, the piece cannot be completed. Each person contributes their own strength to our family.
